Original lithograph signed and dated by Shepard Fairey, American contemporary artist, founder of OBEY.
This Shadowplay lithograph is inspired by punk, post-punk and new wave music graphics that subversively and enigmatically combine original art and found imagery. This type of art inspired the artist from his early high school experiments with a photocopier, an x-acto knife and stencils. Shadowplay references Joy Division and their graphic designer, Peter Saville, who created his beautiful and haunting album covers from found and manipulated images. Coincidentally, this lithograph was revealed exactly 45 years after Joy Division made their television debut performing "Shadowplay" on Granada Reports.
